Formed around producer brothers Dante and Gam Traynor (who's recent works have included co-writes on the forthcoming Fat White Family album Serfs Up!), Xi's surreal debut single 'Sentimental Sunset' is a highly-conceptualised piece of audio art. Set in an ambiguous alternate present/near future world, 'Sentimental Sunset' is a romantic take on dystopian destruction brought to life through an intricate composition of swelling synthesizers, ticking drum machines and languid, reverb-drenched guitar lines. Accompanied by an ambitious VR video directed, produced and edited (including 3D) by Beatrix Blaise, Xi invite us to get lost in their dinosaur-inhabited apocalypse, which feels more like the trailer of a futuristic blockbuster than your bog standard music video.
